For the last little while I have been kinda crazy for youtube videos of musicians covering their favorite songs. Strumming guitars in front of their cameras-comment sections full of advice on chords and fingering. Artists are important, yes, but I have been learning of the value of fans-they feel the music just as passionately. I am an artist (so what?) but more importantly I am a fan. . .
I have never understood artist who claim they don't care about their fans or how their art is received. I've always been of the school that says an artist's first responsibly is to get people to pay attention. Without people to consume your art, 'fans' or otherwise, we are just masturbating.
