Danger: Zombies Ahead

Over the weekend some thoughtful citizens hacked into road signs all around Austin Texas. Their mission? To warn us of the most brutal driving condition of them all, Zombies. Thats right team, World War Z has begun.

Yes We Can.

Here at my house we just finished watching the Inauguration of Barack Obama. And i can't help but be moved. He is not the man i voted for. He is not the man i would have chosen. But perhaps he is the best possible man for the job.

His speech was sweeping, and unifying.

And i am proud to be an American. Only here is this possible.

The Tragedy of Palestine

How do you save the world?

It is not a rhetorical question.

Every morning i wake up, open my laptop, and start reading the news of the world.

And every morning my heart sinks a little bit.

Lately (for months really) the only news i'm interested in is that coming out of Israel/Palestine. It is like a train wreck happening in very very slow motion and i can't tear my eyes away. I can't stop looking, even though it makes me sick to my stomach, partially because it is so senseless, and partially because i feel so responsible.

This is our fault you know. The fact that we have this abhorrent bloody mess frozen in amber is our fault, yours and mine. Why? Because we pay for it. The United States spend almost 8 billion dollars a year buying the status quo in the Middle East.

That is almost 3 billion to Israel so it can turn around and use it to buy tanks and weapons from us to terrorize the children of Palestine.

2 billion to Egypt so Mubarak can desperately cling to power by crushing his people's calls for democracy and imprisoning his political rivals.

Half a billion to the Palestinian Authority to prop up a corrupt and inefficient system that has no hope (or apparently desire) of extracting it's people from their decimation.

And another half billion bribe to Jordan so it will continue to look the other way.

Blood is on our hands. We bare the blame.

God help us.

A Crippled Shell of a Man

I've been pathetic and puppy-like for over a month now, first with a brutally unfun case of bronchitis, and now i'm pulled a muscle in my back and i feel like i'm being struck by lightning every time i breath in.

Being human kinda blows sometimes.

Not that humanity doesn't have it's perks; video games, white chocolate, sex.

But wouldn't it be awesome (just sometime) to be a cyborg?

I'm just saying.

Bring on the Human Sacrafice!

Brace for impact kids. A new clip from the upcomming Battlestar Gallactica prequel, Caprica was released today and I couldn't be more frakking excited.

The clip takes us on a tour of a 'Cyber Club' where average teens gather for drinking, group sex, sacrificing virgins to the goddess of the underworld and shooting each other in the face. For Fun!

Caprica I'm already obsessed with you.

Inching Tword the Apocalypse

Chaos is tearing through North Western Pakistan where car bombs have killed least 18 people and wounded another 80 at the bazaar in Kissa Kahani, or Street of the Storytellers, in the Pakistani city of Peshawar, and another has killed at least six in Kalaya, the main town in Orakzai. It is not yet clear who is behind the attacks (though they seem aimed at Shia Muslims).

This is how the World Ends people. Not with a whimper, but with a Bang.
