'Help Me'

The BBC has obtained the first video of an actual interrogation at Guantanamo Bay. It depicts young Omar Khadr being asked about the events leading up to his capture. For those of you who have never heard of Omar Khadr he is a Canadian Citizen who was captured in Afghanistan in 2002 at the age of fifteen for allegedly throwing a grenade that killed a US soldier. It is six years later and Khadr (now 21) is still @ Guantanamo Bay. This past February the Pentagon accidentally released documents showing that although Khadr was present during the firefight, there was no other evidence that he had thrown the grenade. In fact, military officials had originally reported that another of the surviving militants had thrown the grenade just before being killed.

Mr. Khadr has been tortured, deprived of sleep, put in solitary confinement, and denied medical care.

Now you understand, they hate us for our freedom.

Before we discuss 'Justice' let's discuss what we know without a dobut to be True regarding Omar Khadr. 1) six years ago he was taken into custody on a battlefield in Afghanistan 2) He has been held without charge, without trial, and without access to the Red Cross.

I do not know if Omar Khadr killer Christopher Speer. I do not know what Omar Khadr was doing on that battlefield in Afghanistan. I do not know if he was tortured or the nature and quality of any medical care he may have recieved in US custody.

I do know that there is no 'justice' in keeping anyone in captivity for six years without a trial; regardless of his age, regardless of his alleged crime or ANY families suffering, regardless of his families financial ties or political sympathies there is no excuse for keeping anyone locked away for six years without a trial.

Though i cringe at the words ' War on Terror' I do believe we are at war, a truly Idealogical war and if we cannot live up to our ideals and abide by our own laws then we will Fail and we will Fall.

I love the West and i love my country, enough that i want to see them live up to the foundations and ideals that they are built on. I Demand it! I demand JUSTICE for Omar Khadr, what ever that may mean, Justice that will not be achieved without a fair and open trial. I do not believe that makes me a hypocrite.

Apparently you don't know shit! It is perfectly legal to hold an enemy combatant until the cessation of hostilities. Then he must be charged or released.

"there is no excuse for keeping anyone locked away for six years without a trial."

Maybe you should learn something about international law before providing your scholarly opinions.

"I do not believe that makes me a hypocrite."

The fact that you don't seem to be concerned with the fate of Christopher Speer, DOES make you a hypocrite. The fact that you DEMAND something that has no merit, makes you an ignoramus with delusions of grandeur.
